ALMACO Continues to Support Tennis Players
Since 2012 ALMACO has supported a Finnish professional tennis player Jarkko Nieminen. Jarkko won the singles title at the Apia International Sydney, an ATP 250 event and a "warm up" tournament for the Australian Open. Jarkko played outstanding tennis for the entire week and became the first qualifier to win a tournament in the ATP since 2009. Jarkko is in good company as winner of the Sydney Apia International; previous winners include Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, and Lleyton Hewitt. Jarkko’s ATP ranking is currently 43. ALMACO congratulates Jarkko and wishes him continued success!
ALMACO sponsored sailors have a successful year 2011
ALMACO has sponsored two teams and two individuals during their 2011 season, and they have all had a great year.
Erika Reineke from Fort Laudedale, USA, won the 2011 Laser Radial Youth World Championship held July 24-31, in La Rochelle, France. Erika won the title second year in a row. Less than two weeks prior to the World Championships she won a silver medal at the ISAF Youth Worlds in Croatia.
Also sailing in very competitive waters: Brad Funk (Fort Lauderdale, FL) represented the United States in the Pre-Olympics in Weymouth UK in August. He sailed 15th and will be sailing in the 2012 Olympics qualifying race in Perth, Australia in December 2011.
Mac Agnese and Antoine Screve paired up to compete in the 29er skiff in the 2011 Volvo Youth Worlds in Zadar, Croatia. The young men, living on opposite coasts of the United States, worked hard to qualify and get ready: it all paid off and the finished 2nd in the prestigious race in July.
The Finnish H-Boat team (captain: Bobi Casén, crew: Ville Kurki and Jari Saarinen) had an excellent summer:
- Lahti Regatta, #1
- Helsinki Regatta, #1

ALMACO Tennis Sponsorship
ALMACO Group sponsored the Tennis Europe Junior Tournament for Boys & Girls 12 & Under in Finland in October 2009. This was the first time in history that a Tennis Europe (boys and girls 12 tournament) was arranged in Finland. ALMACO supports the willpower and ambition of young athletes dedicated to their sport.
The tournament lasted one week and participants for seven countries took part in the tournament: Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia, Russia, Germany and Great Britain. The tournament was a great success and we received feedback highly encouraging the arrangement of another tournament again next year.
