ALMACO provides tailor-made Maintenance Management for M/S Freedom of the Seas
In close cooperation with Royal Caribbean International (RCI), ALMACO has developed a new Facility Management Tool for Hotel Area Maintenance onboard Passenger Ships. In combination with ALMACO Condition Monitoring Services and the expanded Spare Part Supplier Pool, this tool will ensure the best passenger comfort and safety and reduce the owner's unscheduled maintenance efforts. A total of 15 RCI ships already use the Maintenance Management services, and the Facility Management Tool will be piloted on board M/S Freedom of the Seas.
Planned Maintenance means a continuous fleet-wide improvement process: savings and a controlled spending plan, extended lifetime, maximized safety and comfort onboard. However, a lack of proper tools and services until now meant that ship interiors have rarely been the focus of such maintenance planning. In order to respond to the needs of its clients, ALMACO cooperated with RCI to begin development of the Maintenance Management services, which is now available for all passenger ships. ALMACO's concept involves helping ship owners gather all product data concerning their fleet's Passenger Areas and Food Handling Areas and then build a maintenance system for these areas.
ALMACO Maintenance Management services is a portfolio of tools and services that integrates modern maintenance tools and practical information about materials and material maintenance in a ship environment. The complete portfolio includes the Product Database and Facility Management Tool as well as Condition Monitoring Services and highly developed Spare Part Services for Hotel Areas onboard. This portfolio allows ALMACO to offer ship owners tailor-made Maintenance Management.
ALMACO Product Database contains maintenance instructions and information about the expected lifecycles of all Hotel Area products and materials on board. It can be synchronized with the customer's database or maintenance system. The Database is the foundation for the ALMACO Facility Management Tool that provides valuable information about the overall performance of the fleet's Hotel Areas using consolidated online reporting of maintenance information. The tool can be used as a budgeting tool for maintenance and refurbishment projects, and the ship owner can control and follow all information related to fleet performance via the Internet.
ALMACO also offers Condition Monitoring Services, which means that technical specialists are sent onboard to inspect the ship and compile a report. In the report, the ALMACO team makes recommendations that will help maintain the desired brand standard and passenger comfort. The recommendations are accompanied by specifications and cost estimates to help the owner make decisions. Systematic performance of inspections throughout the fleet provides a good understanding of the brand standard.
To complement its Maintenance Services, ALMACO has developed highly efficient Spare Part Services for Passenger Areas and Food Handling Areas throughout the ships. Global sourcing has been used to expand ALMACO Supplier Pool to include more than 500 suppliers, most of which are leading suppliers in the European shipbuilding industry. ALMACO offers negotiated contract pricing, rapid turnaround and efficient deliveries. Concentrated Spare Parts procurement based on planned maintenance benefits both clients and suppliers as it allows for optimal stocking. As a specialist in Hotel Areas onboard, ALMACO has also been able to respond directly to the needs of clients by researching alternative materials and focusing on product development.
