ALMACO awarded contract for delivery and installation of Food Handling Equipment and Systems to seven vessels of the SNCM fleet

ALMACO has been contracted to deliver galley equipment to seven vessels of the SNCM fleet and to carry out installation in five of them. Equipment such as ovens, refrigerated counters and cold displays will be delivered and/or installed onboard M/S Bonaparte, M/S Ile de Beauté, M/S Mediterranée, M/S Corse, M/S Monte D’Oro, M/S Paglia Orba, and M/S Pascal Paoli. The project also includes rebuilding of the crew mess on M/S Corse.

All seven SNCM ships were inspected by ALMACO and the ship owner during a two-day operation out of Marseille. The equipment proposed and to be supplied will improve the levels of service onboard, both for passengers and crew members.

ALMACO provided its expertise in Food Handling Systems such as galleys, self-service areas and crew galley areas by presenting clear specifications of needed equipment following the inspections. ALMACO is knowledgeable about SNCM’s requirements due to previous in-house experience on several SNCM galley contracts for newbuilding and conversion contracts for existing ships.

The project will take place during operations in June 2008. ALMACO’s versatility and efficient supplier network will prove critical to deliver the contract in a very tight schedule, within less than 3 months, as SNCM’s high season starts at the end of June.

Société Nationale Corse-Méditerranée, SNCM, a ferry line that transports more than one million passengers a year and operates a fleet of 10 vessels between France, the island of Corsica and the Mediterranean, was recently privatized and is looking to update their fleet in order to enhance the quality of the customer’s experience and crew accommodations.
