ALMACO's market leadership in Refrigeration Systems
ALMACO refrigeration systems will serve Celebrity Cruises’ 3 newbuildings
ALMACO is responsible for designing, supplying and commissioning the refrigeration system that will cool the provisions stores and the food handling equipment (counters and refrigerators) onboard Celebrity Cruises’ 3 newbuildings at Meyer Werft: Solstice, Equinox, and Eclipse.
Two separate systems make ALMACO Refrigeration Machinery: one for frozen spaces and another for chilled spaces. Two 65kW (-34/+41°C) negative direct expansion units, one as stand-by, are dedicated to the freezing rooms. Two 440kW (-16/+42°C) brin chillers, one as stand-by, are committed to cooling a large -10°C propylene glycol network connected to the chilled room and various refrigerated galley equipment.
All units use open screw compressors. The condensers are cooled by soft and sea water. ALMACO also designs and supplies al secondary equipment as pumps, tanks, valves and instrumentation for the glycol network and the refrigerant recovery unit.
Genesis contract is ALMACO's largest yet
ALMACO was awarded a major contract for the design, supply, and commissioning of the refrigeration systems for Royal Caribbean International’s new generation 220,000-ton, 5,400-passenger cruise vessel “Genesis” currently under construction at Aker Yards in Turku, Finland. The Genesis contract is ALMACO’s largest order so far for refrigeration machinery, exceeding the one delivered for Queen Mary 2 three years ago.
ALMACO Refrigeration Machinery consists of two separate brine and DX systems for provision cooling plus an additional system to freeze the ice rink. All networks are fed off fully redundant and standalone pack units. Three separate systems will be installed on board: one for frozen spaces, another one for chilled rooms and food handling equipment, and a third one for the ice rink. A total of 97 air coolers will cool the 77 cold rooms on the world's largest cruise ship.
ALMACO will provide refrigeration systems on the new NCL F3 class
ALMACO, who is now well known by Norwegian Cruise Line, has been chosen to supply the refrigeration system onboard their third generation of Freestyle cruising vessels F3 mega-class (4,200 passengers and 50,000 ton over the last Jewel-class), at Aker Yards France.
ALMACO Refrigeration Machinery is based on two separate systems: one for frozen spaces and another for chilled spaces. Two 85kW negative direct expansion units, one as stand-by, are dedicated to the freezing rooms. Two 650kW glycol chillers are committed to cooling a large -10°C propylene glycol network connected to the chilled room and various refrigerated galley equipment. Both chillers are able to run together when another 550kW fan coil back up is in demand. Some of the glycol pumps are driven by frequency converters for flow control and energy saving.
ALMACO refrigeration plants fulfill the present US Public Health (USPH) regulations and comply with the relevant classification society requirements. Our plants are designed in accordance with rules aimed at making the system more environmentally friendly.
