ALMACO performed large scale modernization of “Mein Schiff“ cabins and food handling areas for TUI Cruises
ALMACO was contracted to perform an extensive modernization project which incorporates ALMACO’s expertise in both passenger areas and food handling systems. ALMACO’s Accommodation Systems scope of work focused on refurbishing all passenger cabins, and adding 12 new cabins on deck 10. ALMACO’s Food Handling Systems scope of work incorporated a comprehensive revamping contract for a total of 20 areas, with heavy modifications in the Lido, a new steakhouse galley, a completely new pantry and galley for fine dining, and additional works on bars both new and existing.
The dry dock took place from March 15 through the beginning of May partly during sailing from the Caribbean and the rest at Lloyd Werft shipyard in Germany. ALMACO managed and supervised the works with over 160 people on board, providing the complete turnkey delivery service that positions ALMACO as a leader of the industry.
The “Mein Schiff“ – the former M/S Galaxy – was built in 1996, and has a passenger capacity of 2000. The ship will be transferred from Celebrity Cruises to TUI Cruises, which is a new company created by Royal Caribbean Cruises and TUI. The ship has been renamed “Mein Schiff“ for TUI Cruises.
