ALMACO the exclusive contractor to modernize cabins, food handling and public areas onboard Brittany Ferries’ M/S Bretagne
Brittany Ferries engaged in the largest refurbishment onboard M/S Bretagne since she joined the company in 1989, and ALMACO has been chosen to modernize all Cabins, and most of its Food Handling and Public Areas. ALMACO’s extensive scope includes the refurbishment of all 350 passenger cabins and bathrooms including corridors and rebuild of 8 new cabins; modifications to the main restaurant’s counters; new equipment and new floors for the main galley; supply and installation of carpet or vinyl throughout the ship; as well as the demolition and complete rebuild of La Viennoiserie tea room, adjacent reclining seats lounges, self-service restaurant La Baule and cinema; and the complete reconstruction of public toilets in 10 different areas.
ALMACO is in the process of refurbishing all 350 passenger cabins including corridors on deck 1, 2, 6 and 8. All bathrooms will also be reconstructed and items such as furniture, lighting and fittings will be replaced. TVs will be added in about 150 cabins. Additionally, ALMACO will completely demolish and rebuild 8 ADA cabins.
The food handling segment of ALMACO’s scope entails providing a completely new catering facility to the tea room La Viennoiserie, as well as extending the existing scullery and modifying the self-service distribution for the self-service restaurant La Baule. There will be modifications performed on the counters inside the main restaurant, and the main galley will receive new equipment and brand new flooring, where 400 sq meters will undergo a complete replacement of existing tiled floor with anti-slip resin.
ALMACO will also perform a complete rebuild of public toilets in 10 different areas, comprising of demolition and reconstruction to include upgrades such as new floor, partition walls, doors, ceiling panels, tiles on the walls and floor, new vanity sinks, mirrors and accessories, and modifications to plumbing and lighting.
Finally, ALMACO will supply and install new carpet on almost all public areas or new vinyl throughout the ship, including the cinema. In the outside smoking area, ALMACO will supply and install windbreakers and an awning to protect smokers from bad weather. The dry dock is taking place in Poland from January through the end of February 2009. ALMACO is utilizing 150 installers and is the only company involved in the public areas aspect of this project.
