ALMACO Group delivers Food Handling systems onboard AIDA Cruises’ M/S AIDAblu to Meyer Werft
ALMACO Group has completed the contract to supply galleys, pantries and provision stores for AIDAblu, the fourth AIDA Cruises newbuilding for Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. ALMACO has also delivered Food Handling systems to the previous 3 ships and is contracted to work on the following 2, making ALMACO the partner of choice for delivery of Food Handling systems to a total of six AIDA newbuildings. The order encompassed the supply and installation of galleys, pantries and provisions stores. This delivery supports Meyer Werft’s confidence in ALMACO's Food Handling systems fully satisfying AIDA’s stringent requirements and high quality standards, as well as all USPH regulations.
ALMACO supplied and installed all the equipment for the newbuilding’s galleys and pantries, which occupy a total area of 2000m2. This area comprises 3 big galley areas and 24 pantries for bars and cabin service for passengers and crew. ALMACO’s scope also included the supply and installation of foundations and stainless steel ceiling and wall panels on a complete-system basis, in accordance with USPH policies.
Additionally, ALMACO supplied all 34 provision stores including walk-ins and dry stores onboard of each ship, occupying a floor area of 950m2. When necessary, A-60 rated fire hinged or sliding doors were fitted to the stores. These insulated doors fully comply with both fire and insulation requirements in a single unit, eliminating the need to fit two adjacent doors to provide fire protection and temperature insulation. Installation costs are therefore reduced, and personnel access to the stores is much improved.
AIDAdiva, AIDAbella, and AIDAluna have already been delivered in 2007, 2008, and 2009 respectively, and now AIDAblu in 2010. AIDAsol will be delivered in 2011 and the remaining unnamed AIDA newbuilding in 2012. These AIDA ships, featuring ALMACO’s Food Handling systems, each has a length of 252m, a width of 32.2m, and accommodate 2,174 passengers in 1,096 cabins.
