ALMACO Completes Refrigeration PLC Upgrades Across Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice Class Fleet
ALMACO Group is proud to announce the successful completion of a comprehensive Refrigeration PLC Upgrade project onboard Celebrity Cruises’ Solstice Class vessels: Solstice, Equinox, Eclipse, Silhouette, and Reflection. The upgrades were carried out during sailing throughout the spring and summer of 2025.
Project Overview
ALMACO’s Automation team spent two weeks onboard each of the five ships, upgrading the outdated PLCs and HMIs in the refrigeration units. The legacy systems—comprising components from various manufacturers that are now obsolete—were replaced with a modern, integrated solution built on state-of-the-art technology.
This carefully orchestrated project was executed back-to-back across the fleet, ensuring that the cooling plants remained fully operational throughout the entire process. The result is a seamless, reliable, and serviceable system that supports smooth operations and requires minimal maintenance.
Operational Excellence
The project was completed within the planned timeframe, with zero downtime to the refrigeration systems. “This project is a great example of how we deliver high-quality, future-proof solutions that meet the most demanding operational requirements,” said Mathias Roberts, Vice President of ALMACO’s LifeCycle Division. “We’re proud of our team’s dedication and the trust placed in us by Celebrity Cruises.”
