ALMACO completes extensive revitalization onboard Empress of the Seas

ALMACO Group completed an extensive revitalization project for Royal Caribbean in the beginning of May 2004. Royal Caribbean’s Empress of the Seas, formerly Nordic Empress, was completely modernized during ship’s 2-week dry-dock in Freeport, Bahamas.

ALMACO refubished nearly 800 cabins, including the bathrooms, during the dry-dock. The refurbishment scope included new soft furnishing, modifications to the fixed furniture, new lighting, wash basins and decorative items. The Superior Ocean View staterooms were renovated to meet the same standard guests can experience in the new ships. All fixed furniture was replaced, new ceiling and lighting were installed and the walls were recoved.

Additionally, ALMACO built a brand new Latte’tudes coffee bar and ice cream shop that serves espresso drinks from Seattle’s Best Coffee or ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s. The Coffee Shop was the third built by ALMACO, the other Shops have been built onboard Monarch of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas. The area was a complete turnkey delivery including all catering equipment, electrical mdifications, and HVAC works.

ALMACO also delivered a glass stairs that serves not only as stair case, but also as a design element in the new Spa area.

Additionally, ALMACO refurbished the 800-seat Main Show Theater. New fixed seating was installed and all existing over 700 seats were reupholstered during ship’s dry-docking. ALMACO delivered the area as a turnkey supply, including the custom made fabrics.
